Law Enforcement and Firefighter Appreciation Night 2012 On Friday, February 24, 2012, Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 was proud to host a sit down Baby Back Rib and Chicken dinner to all the members in Firehouses 30,31 and 37.  Over 30 guests attended in honor of Law Enforcement and Firefighter Appreciation Night conducted by the lodge secretary David Naccarato, PER.

Recipient of the Firefighter of the Year was  Fireman Gifford Sears and making the presentation was :

L-R Retiring Cheif Bob Roper, Gifford Sears, Firefighter of the Year Station 37, Retired Captain and member Paul Stine, and Captain Frank O’Hanlon who made the introductions.

Honored as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year was Deputy Corey Nickolas of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department who in the line of duty responded to a 911 call from a housewife who was beaten by her former husband. The husband was armed at the time and forced Deputy Nickolas to the shoot him in the chest. The assailant was rushed to the hospital and survived to be prosecuted and is doing time at the penitentiary.
