Thousand Oaks Elks Ladies enjoy another successful Christmas Party
Elks and their families come together for a delicious Pot Luck Dinner and festive Gift Exchange.
On Friday March 16, 2012 the gender barrier was breached and a first for Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 occurred once again. Sally Claunch, PER, was awarded the prestigious “Elk of the Year” award for service above and beyond the ordinary. She is an 11 year member who has served the Lodge as an officer for 9 years including being the first female Exalted Ruler and Trustee. Currently she is editor of the monthly bulletin and weekly emailed updates of Lodge activities.
In addition, Sally works on cooking crews, and lodge social events. Beyond Elkdom, Sally serves as a volunteer Docent at the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum as well as other venues. She serves her community tirelessly.
Another first is she joins her husband Tommy Claunch a former Elk of the Year as the first husband and wife to be so honored.
We are saddened to pass along that Shirley Kozlowski, wife of PER Chet Kozlowski has passed away. Chet and Shirley had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April of this year. Shirley had been an active participant in many activities in the lodge serving faithfully with the Elks Ladies including President of the organization.
The viewing will be Tuesday July 5th 5-8 at Pierce Brothers Mortuary in Westlake, a Mass will be held Wednesday July 6th at 10:30 at Saint Pascal’s Janss & Moorpark Thousand Oaks and memorial at the Lodge that afternoon (Wednesday) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
