April 1 began the new year at the Lodge as our new Exalted Ruler, Harry Brockwell began his term and our new “Junior” PER Terry Gicking moved on to a new role as our Officer-At-Large.

As we moved into February the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 was thrilled to welcome four new members. We continued our tradition of having the PER’s (Past Exalted Rulers) perform the initiation since the officers elect are in the midst of preparing for Ritual Contest later this spring.

We started the new year off with a bang! Last night during Initiation the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 saw 7 new members initiated. In addition to other business we had a wonderful turn-out and a great beginning to 2010!

Larry Morris

Brother Larry Morris was born November 27, 1941 in Hermosa Beach. Larry was initiated on Sept 23, 1987 and served as  Treasurer 1991-1992 and  Trustee 1992-1993.

Larry and Colleen put on many Friday night dinners in addition to handling the food for the many memorial services at the Lodge.

Larry passed on December 7, 2009.

On Thursday January 14, 2010 the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 donated to all the 3rd graders at the El Descanso Elementary School, in Camarillo, a dictionary for their very own. Elks National Foundation Chairman Tom Ryder announced that the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge met their per capita donation for the Elks National Foundation and presented the lodge with a check of $225 earned at DDGER, Greg Metzgus Clinic in Santa Barbara.
