SALLY CLAUNCH ELK OF THE YEAR!

SALLY CLAUNCH ELK OF THE YEAR!

On Friday March 16, 2012 the gender barrier was breached and a first for Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 occurred once again.  Sally Claunch, PER, was awarded the prestigious “Elk of the Year” award for service above and beyond the ordinary.  She is an 11 year member who has served the Lodge as an officer for 9 years including being the first female Exalted Ruler and Trustee.  Currently she is editor of the monthly bulletin and weekly emailed updates of Lodge activities.

In addition, Sally works on cooking crews, and lodge social events.  Beyond Elkdom, Sally serves as a volunteer Docent at the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum as well as other venues.  She serves her community tirelessly.

Another first is she joins her husband Tommy Claunch a former Elk of the Year as the first husband and wife to be so honored.
